Prasidh Krishna: India’s Rising Pace Sensation
Prasidh Krishna has carved a unique identity among Indian fast bowlers. Known for extracting sharp bounce from just short of a good length, he brings a rare and valuable skill to India’s pace arsenal. His accuracy has always been commendable, but after increasing his pace, he became even more threatening to batters worldwide.
Early Career and Breakthrough
Prasidh made his first-class debut in 2015 against Bangladesh A, picking up a wicket with his very first delivery and finishing with a five-wicket haul. However, Karnataka’s strong pace attack limited his first-class appearances. His real impact came in 50-over cricket. He helped Karnataka lift the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, finishing as the joint second-highest wicket-taker.
International Debut and Impact
In 2021, Prasidh made an impressive ODI debut against England in Pune, picking 4 for 54. His figures set a new record for an Indian debutant. His ability to enforce pressure in the middle overs promised a bright future, but injuries soon disrupted his momentum. Despite setbacks, he remained a key prospect for India’s fast-bowling future.
IPL Journey
During IPL 2018, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed Prasidh as an injury replacement. He grabbed the opportunity and ended the season with 10 wickets from seven matches. Although he had quiet spells in the next two seasons, he bounced back strongly in IPL 2021, taking 12 wickets to help KKR reach the final.
In 2022, Rajasthan Royals (RR) invested INR 10 crore in Prasidh. He justified the faith by picking 19 wickets from 17 matches, maintaining an impressive economy rate. However, back and quad injuries forced him to miss the 2023 and 2024 IPL seasons. Ahead of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans (GT) secured him for INR 9.5 crore, underlining his value.
Future Prospects
Prasidh Krishna remains one of India’s most exciting fast-bowling talents. His lethal yorkers, combined with sharp bounce and unwavering accuracy, make him a potential game-changer. With better fitness management, he could soon cement his place among the world’s elite pacers.
