Kuldeep Sen: The Speedster Carving His Path in Indian Cricket
Kuldeep Sen has quickly established himself as a name to watch in Indian cricket. A right-arm fast bowler from Madhya Pradesh, he made his first-class debut in late 2018 and immediately caught attention with his raw pace and ability to take crucial wickets. Within just a few matches, his performances began drawing national interest, especially as he consistently bowled above 140 km/h.
Sen’s breakthrough came during the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season. In only his third game, he picked up seven wickets, followed by another six in the next. By the end of the season, he had taken 24 wickets in eight games. His consistency didn’t go unnoticed, and he was soon fast-tracked into higher levels of cricket.
In 2022, Kuldeep earned a spot in the India A squad for the 50-over format. That same year, he became Madhya Pradesh’s leading wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His strong performances also led to selection for the Rest of India team in the prestigious Irani Cup, where he took eight wickets while opening the bowling attack.
Kuldeep made his IPL debut in 2022 for Rajasthan Royals after playing fewer than 40 domestic games. In his very first match, he impressed by defending 14 runs in the final over against the Lucknow Super Giants. Although he had some expensive spells later, the potential was clear. His efforts soon earned him an ODI debut against Bangladesh in December 2022.
Despite his rising graph, injuries have occasionally slowed his progress. Yet, he continues to fight his way back with determination. Ahead of the 2023–24 domestic season, he made a significant move from Madhya Pradesh to Tamil Nadu, aiming for a fresh start and more opportunities.
