Karun Nair – Indian Cricket’s Triple-Centurion Talent

Karun Nair is a prominent Indian right-handed batsman who etched his name in cricket history with a rare triple century.
Born in Jodhpur and raised in Bangalore, Karun Nair has emerged as a dependable player through consistent performances in domestic
cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Domestic Excellence

Karun Nair’s domestic career began with a strong impact in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season. He struck centuries in three consecutive
matches, including in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, playing a vital role in Karnataka’s title win after 15 years. His ability
to handle pressure was evident when he hit the winning six in the final. In the following season, he scored a record-breaking
triple-century, showcasing his resilience and temperament.

Recognized for his early success, Karun Nair was made captain of Karnataka in 2016, affirming his leadership and cricketing
intelligence. His first three Ranji seasons saw him average over 50, making a strong case for national selection.

IPL Journey

Karun Nair was signed by Rajasthan Royals in 2014, where he quickly found a place in the playing XI. Often opening alongside Shane
Watson, he delivered crucial performances. In 2016, Delhi Daredevils acquired him for INR 4 crore—40 times his base price. He
justified the investment with steady performances at the top of the order, underlining his T20 credentials.

National Recognition

Karun Nair made his ODI debut for India against Zimbabwe in July 2016. Later that year, he earned his Test cap during the England
series. In just his third Test, he scored an unbeaten 303, becoming only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to achieve a Test
triple-century. He also became just the third player in history to convert a maiden Test century into a triple ton.

Resilience Beyond Cricket

In 2016, Karun Nair survived a tragic boat mishap in Kerala during a temple festival. He was rescued by locals despite not knowing
how to swim, a testament to his resilience off the field as well.

Future Outlook

He remains a skilled and determined cricketer with the ability to contribute in all formats. While competition for places
in the national team remains high, his technique and calm demeanor keep him in contention. With continued domestic excellence and
strong IPL seasons, Karun Nair still holds the potential to make significant comebacks on the international stage.
