Early Career and Rise to Prominence

In 2016, Kishan captained India’s Under-19 team in the World Cup in Bangladesh. Despite India’s runner-up finish, Kishan struggled with the bat. However, he rebounded in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy, amassing 799 runs at an average of over 57. Notably, he scored 273 runs in a draw against Delhi and followed it with 136 runs against Saurashtra.
IPL Journey and Breakthrough
Kishan’s IPL career began in 2016 when Gujarat Lions picked him up for INR 35 lakh. He had a couple of average seasons with the Lions before joining Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2018. He found his rhythm in the 2020 season, scoring 516 runs with a strike rate of 145.76. His most memorable innings was a 99-run knock in a Super Over loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
International Success
Kishan made his international debut in 2021, scoring fifties in both formats. The following year, he enjoyed a purple patch, scoring three T20I fifties in five games against Sri Lanka and South Africa. In December 2022, he scored a stunning 210 runs in an ODI against Bangladesh.
In 2023, Kishan maintained his form, scoring four consecutive ODI fifties. However, he only played two games in the 2023 World Cup. Despite limited opportunities, his consistent performances make him a key figure in India’s limited-overs squad.
