Mumbai Indians (MI) signed him as an injury replacement for Dilshan Madushanka for IPL 2024.- Earlier that year, Maphaka had taken the Under-19 World Cup by storm. He was named the Player of the Tournament for his 21 wickets at an average of merely 9.71, and an economy of 3.81.- Maphaka bowled six overs across two matches for MI in 2024, but struck only once. He was released ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025, where he was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.5 crore.
